Seasonal table October 2019

I actually did have this ready in time for the first of October but it's been really busy here so the picture had to wait. All around us the colours of the leaves are changing and it's been a beautiful October so far. We've been flying kites and collecting leaves and are currently enjoying a warm weather situation with temperatures up to 26 degrees celsius!
We've also found an awful lot of fly agarics and other mushrooms that didn't look edible but very pretty. And on another walk we discovered stone age caves that people were using as a shelter about 13000 years ago! Amazing! (obviously we didn't discover them first, but it was a first for us...)

And I find this month's Elsa Beskow calender leaf most endearing!

Seasonal table September 2019

September has begun, this time the meteorological beginning of autumn is also on the 1st of September and I managed to put up the table in time AND get it online in the beginning of September, too. :) Yes, I know, there are no flowers in that little vase, but I am waiting for the children to find some.

The nights are certainly becoming  a little chillier, even if daytime temperature can still be up to 32°C. I am looking forward to "Zwetschgenkuchen", which is one of my favourite (it's a special kind of plum, but basically it is plum cake with crumble...). In fact there is one in the oven as I am writing this. :)

The Else Beskow card for this month reminds me of our little apple tree, which is already (despite being quite a young tree) growing a few apples. We've been cutting the hedge and everywhere you find little hints at autumn coming. But for the moment, we are enjoying a warm and pleasant late summer.

Wow, this took a looong time to go online! Although I had even managed to put it up on the 2nd of August. Anyhow, that's what out August table looked like. :)

Seasonal table July 2019

This month I really tried putting everything out in time (both the table and the picture online). :) 

The Spring Flower girl now really went to bed, with temperatures near to 40°Celsius it was not really refreshing anymore. Like in the postcard picture the hay is being brought in and the poppies and lilies are flowering. Elsewhere... the poppy in our garde  decided to vanish entirely... ah well... some other plants are suffering from ... "something" like our Deutzia, which was growing perfectly well until ... the day before yesterday. Maybe it's just the heat...

Seasonal table June 2019

 So, as surprisingly as always, June is already more than half way over... and despite being in time with putting up the table, I didn't take a picture ...

We had quite a heavy wind these past few days and my lovely roses were bent under the rain and the storm.... so I cut them and now we have them in the flat. (the same actually happened to my peonies, so we had a wonderful peony bouquet on the dining table for about a week... it was beautiful, although they would have been beautful outside, too). One side effect of garden flowers is, that lots of ants seems to live in them and the children keep finding them crawing on the table (and "rescue" them... some even make it...)

Although the little flower child is a spring child really, we wanted her to be on the table still, because she is sooo cute!

Seasonal table May 2019

So.... although I had actually redecorated the seasonal table RIGHT on the 1st of May (Labour day being a public holiday and I didn't have to work) and I even took the picture right on that day - but putting it online took a bit of time again. Sorry about that.
The children have contributed stones they painted last year and have in the meantime added a bit of dried moss between them.

April seasonal table

April is half over already and I've not managed to post the picture of our monthly table shame on me. Especially as I even managed to take the picture on the 7th of April (one of the kids changed the settings in the camera and now that stupid date is displaye. I didn't notice until it was too late and now I can't be bothered to remove it or take another picture)! :)

And next weekend it's Easter! Happy Easter! :)

I even managed to get the table done ont he 1st of March - only putting the picture online took aaages. As usual. :)

And yes, that's an incense holder you can see there. We do love our nag champa, it's Goloka and Super Hit (Satya) that we like best at the moment. Strong stuff though, we need to air the place a bit while lighting it. :)

The postcard is from Elsa Beskow, depicting "March". Nature here is a bit more advanced that in Scandinavia, so it seems a bit late. On the other hand - we still get cold nights and Father Frost is still sort of here. And up in the hills, there is still snow, too!

So, I did manage to get the table set in time, despite having a nasty cold (including cough...), which was a present to me and the rest of th efamily from our little one. They grow the BEST colds in kindergarden. I'm rather done in.

Anyway, as you can see, not much changed compared to the january table, but I added a bit of green - I SO long for spring. Although we've had a lovely 2 days of winter fun (sledging, skiing) this past weekend.
I meant to search for snowdrops and put them in the little vase... I'm positive I will finish that project in February. :)

Happy New Year everyone!

I hope you've had a good start into the year 2019. We were at neighbours and it was a nice relaxed and joyful start into the new year with nice food, nice wine, sparklers, watching the fireworks, singing and the kids were in a really good mood and managed to stay up until midnight! We all collapsed into our beds right after, though. :)
Our seasonal table this january is still occupied by the nativity scene, because the three kings haven't quite arrived yet, the christmassy green has gone though and enter this years monthly postcards by Elsa Beskow. I'm curious if I will manage to post the table every month this year (I think from 2018 only  3 months were missing..., not too bad?!)

I wish you all a good, peaceful und fulfilling Year 2019. May some wishes come true and may some stay something to reach for.

Seasonal table December 2018

Yaaayy, it only took me a week to publish the seasonal able, which also underwent quite a lot of changes in that time. We have our Mini-nativity scene (including 3 kings) on it already, and through the desert of stones and candles they find heir way to the crib - each Sunday of Advent a little closer. The candle holders are swedish traditional wooden ones called "kulljusstakar" and it just makes me feel really christmassy, when I see them. One day, I will also find myself a nice Dalahorse, but that's for another Christmas.

Only 1. no dahlia 2. no lavender 3. the novembre grasset card. I ust so much liked those little girls, that I couldn't remove them. :) I promise some change for christmas, though! :)

Yay, after 3 months of not posting a table (although we DID have them), I finally managed to take a picture of this months seasonal table. It's a little wild, but I like it.

The glass candle light is made by my smaller daughter, the lavender is the last from our garden, the little doll on the left is made by me just this week. The dahlia was brought home by my older daughter after school and the little autumn girl is a purchase from Etsy. Just look for KatjasBlumenkinder. She's got lovely little figures for all seasons and likes (and no, I don't get anything from her to say this, I just think she's a very talented lady).

June 2018 seasonal table

Maybe it is a bit "cool", bit with outside temperatures of nearly 30° Celsius, this is refreshing. I've had a real go at the peppermint that is taking over our garden and took a few stems to put them on the table. Now the room is filled with nice refreshing scent of peppermint. :) I still haven't managed to get a piece of fabric the right colour but I like it the way it is.

The June picture of Grasset's "La Belle Jardinière" is lovely light and summery, too.

May seasonal table 2018

I am always amazed what the camera thinks is the center of the picture... sorry...

I can hardly believe it myself, I've managed to change the table, take a picture AND blog about it all on the same day. The explanation: I've got a week off work and it is a public holiday and good weather, so the kids can run around in the garden a lot. :)

The lilacs are from a bush around the corner and the smell is wonderful - not too overwhelming but lightly noticeable. The piece of bark has been on the table a lot already, the bird last month, too, and the mountain crystal was a contribution of the kids.
I've still not managed to restore this little cabinet (the wooden veneer at the bottom is coming off slightly, because a previous owner seems to have stored it with its feet in the water...) and there are some more dents I have to see to... at some point...

April 2018 Seasonal table

Goodness, April and Easter arrived so quickly this year, I didn't manage to get a light green piece of cloth (none in stash...) or anything else that looks a bit fresher and more springlike. 

I did manage to remove the reed from the table, although I really really like it, for me it is always connected to winter, cold, frozen, barren landscape. With reed swaying in the icy-cold wind. 

Finally the weather has changed though, and we've had a few warming days, the plants start growing and budding, I've found the raspberry sprouting everywhere (I LOVE raspberries!), so it is very delightfully springy - at least for the moment. Last year we've had lovely weather like this and it tricked me into buying plants and planting them - just before the next frost - 90% didn't make it (one raspberry bush among them, which filled my with deep sadness...). 

Anyhow, this year I am just enjoying the growth around me and will wait until May (after the Ice Saints) to make the plants are on the safe side. 

So this is our Easter/April table, with contribution from the kids.

The February Table 2018

Admittedly, our February table doesn't look significantly different to the January one. Only I managed to change the postcard to February. And there are a few more stones that the kids found and I desperately long for spring and colours and flowers so I put a few small grape hyacinths on the table, too. Last week we've had a few snowdrops, but I didn't manage to take a picture before the wilted. And it was snowing yesterday. And 75% of the family have the flu.

January 2018 table

This is what the table looks like in January. The reed is back, the vase stays, the bark stays as well as the stones. Re-entry the igloo light. The little blue vase is still waiting for snowbells to be put it. This month the belle jardiniere is preparing ground and there is some holly on the picture and I noticed for the first time, that the dresses the lady is wearing all bear the zodiac signs of the month. At least that's what I think.
