Actually the colour is a lovely "teal", but my camera doesn't love me today. It's a nice corduroy.

More Charles! (Compagnie-M)
I made some more Charles trousers. Again. I simply love that pattern. I widened the legs a little for a more "bootcut version". I've also made a pair in black wide corduroy (a little bit like German traditional carpenter's trousers), but they are in the wash.. I will try and add a picture when the little lady doesn't dirty them faster than I can take a picture...

Princess Castle and Fall Basics SHIRTS (ottobre design)
I tried a basic raglan-shirt from the Ottobre Design 4/13, it is called "fall basic". The shirt runs about 2 sized big, so instead of a 110 I made a 98. I somehow messed up the bias at the top because I didn't stretch it enough, but she loves the shirt so I didn't change it.

Ottobre Design - Crawler - for winter....
Due to the really good weather and lots of stuff going on I am not really at the sewing table regularly. But yesterday I just had to make this little romper suit. The fabric was leftovers from The Elephant Jacket and because I didn't have enough fabric to follow the pattern exactly I had to divide it a bit and use side seams, too. As a base I've used Ottobre Design 4/13 "Crawler" in size 68 (because I need it for winter and the sizes are huge, their size 68 is a size 74 really...). I've used plastic press fasteners for the first time and I have to say, I really like them, not only for children's stuff. Here are a few (exactly 2... really...) pictures. If you have too much time on your hands, you can try and spot my many mistakes, if you are like me, just enjoy the colourful elephants. ;)
What I like about the pattern (apart from the usual easy to follow instructions) is, that the bottom trouser bit is cut like a normal pair of trousers. Some romper suits have this extra lemon or so shaped piece in the crotch to make room for that wonderfully big baby nappy bum. This one has enough room, too, but is cut like normal trousers. With feet, though. ;) I am really nearly a little jealous. It looks SO comfy!

I love Elephants
Actually I would love to have a jacket like this myself - but I decided to make one for Daughter No 1 instead.
I found the pattern in Ottobre Design 1/12 (BrumBrum) and made it without the sleeve inserts. It's really easy, again, the size runs a bit big, which doesn't really matter in a comfy jacket and I knew it before.

Another patchwork baby blanket
Out of obvious reasons I have not been tailoring much for myself recently (don't even imagine fitting a Robe a l'Anglaise over an uberdimensional bump...), but I've been busy making things for Miss L. and the expected baby. For example a baby blanket with her name and a tiny little Suit (minikrea - Heldragt). http://minikrea.dk/newborn/newborn10550.html
I haven't got a picture of the suit here at the moment, just imagine it in red fleece with white dots. :) Simple. Ladybirdlike. As usual, Minikrea pattern - very easy, no problem, nice outcome. slightly on the large side.
The patchwork is not "real", it's just patches fused on vlieseline and then sewn together, nearly idiot-proof (I made the blanket for our older daughter and managed to get it wrong... ah well... practise makes perfect... they say...) (I used ottobre design instructions to do that, as far as patchwork is concerned I also need instruction to cheat.) :)
And here is the result.
Have a lovely week!
To compare, this is blanket No 1

An apple a day....
I am not entirely sure WHY, but I've had LOTS of this crazy 70s apple fabric (cotton 100%) lying around here... waiting. Patiently.
It's called "Wendelin" from Swafing.
And it really is a lot of apples.
I've made a duvet cover and a pillow case for the little one from it.
And a Pinafore (Ottobre Design 1/12 "Home sweet Home")
And a Ballonbuks (Minikrea 20301)
And a Bubble dress (with the help of Minikrea 20004)
For the Bubble dress I took the Minikea Pattern "Spencer" (20004) and used the dress (sz 92) as the lining. I then cut a piece of the apple fabric that is about 2 inches longer and slightly wider at the bottom to be the outer dress. To gather the bottom of the apple fabric nicely, I used Framilon/Framilastic/transparents elastic, 10mm. SO easy!! The dress closes with 2 little heart shaped buttons in red at the top.
The pinafore closes with 2 snaps. I've used dark red cotton as a lining. And instead of using bias tape (as suggested in the Ottobre Design) I just sewed them together right on right, leaving a small gap to turn the whole thing and then topstitching it all the way round.
And I've STILL got fabric left. I might keep it and use it as a lining for a hoodie hood. For myself. ;)
And I am still brooding over starting my next historical sewing projects: Another pair of stays (JPR, to be finished until April this year) AND a complete outfit for a peasant (to be finished until August...). And the little one needs a dress for August, too...

More crazy shirts - Ottobre Design Mail Express and Pinaatti
I've got so much jersey fabric here and I am still hesitating to start my new historical sewing project (despite pattern (adjusted), material and stuff sitting right in front of me...) - so with the weekend being here I've made two MORE dresses/shirts for the little one.
The first one is the tunic "Mail express" from OD 1/12. SO easy! I didn't have any Framilon so I just squeezed the jersey together. Works, too. ;)
Mail express, ottobre design 1/12
The next shirt is based on the Pinaatti (did you know that means SPINACH?!?!) shirt, I've used the alterations I had made for the Mini-Martha Pullover (divided front) and made it into a cross-cover front. I originally wanted the right side on top, but I (again) got confused somewhere in the middle so the left side is on top now. Does it really matter...? ;)
Anyway, both are still a bit big for the little one, but Nature solves that problem.
Again, SOOO easy to put together, took about 2 hrs all in all (both shirts...). I do love that about thos small modern things.

Ottobre Design 1/10 Pinaatti Sheep
Just another little quick shirt for the little one. I've had this fabric for ages (and still have quite a bit of it left...), it's a soft jersey material. The pattern is from the Ottobre Design magazine 1/10, Pinaatti I think it is called (same as last time) Still love it. I've tried something new (the pockets) but I think maybe it would be easier with some vlieseline to back it. ;)Maybe also the pockets should have been further up, but it looks good on the child, so no worries.

Another Kärry Shirt
I am working on my promise to reduce the size of my fabric stash... So I made another Shirt from the "Kärry" pattern (sz.92) from the Ottobre Design 4/12, this time without the hood and pocket. The fabrics are from Lillestoff (clouds) and Michas-Stoffecke (dots) and have been sitting here for about 2 years, again... ;)
I was really tempted to make a Martha for myself from that cloud pattern, but it did look a bit too wild on myself. ;) As I've still got some fabric left, I COULD use that for some pocket details or so... We'll see. I think it might need to mature a bit more... the fabric.

Update: Martha und Mini Martha Pullover
I've done it again. I couldn't resist the pattern. And from the leftover material I've made the same pullover for little-Lucy. My pattern is Martha from Milchmonster, Lucy's Pullover is based on the Ottobre Design 1/10 Pinaatti (or so, I can't quite recall the name, but it is a simple T#Shirt pattern). The fabric (both the little mushrooms on yellow and the forest fabric) is from Lillestoff.
I'm growing really fond of my overlock sewing machine, after having doubts I would ever figure out how to put the threads in... And I am SO enjoying doing contemporary fashion, which is quite a new thing for me. The Pattern by Milchmonser "Martha" is a treat to work with, again.

Ottobre Design Apron-Dress
Another little dress for the little one. It is "Home Sweet Home" from the Ottobre Design magazine 1/12. Veeery easy. I've made seams at the sides though, but the pattern allows to put seams basically everywhere where you need them. Very recommendable. The lining is dark brown with white spots cotton. Again... it's a little big... but it's not summer yet, either.

T-shirt Ottobre Design HauHau
Another little thing for the little one. I got the fabric from a friends scrap fabric stash. It was just enough to make this simple shirt. I used the Ottobre Design 1/12 pattern for the body "HauHau", just didn't make it into a bodysuit. SO easy. It runs a little big, but I knew that. :)

- I have made another dress for Lucy, again from the Ottobre Design Magazine. It is "Savanni" from OD 3/10. The assembly of the sleeves drove me absolutely crazy, I gave up in the end and just put them together differently, I just didn't understand how to get them together, it was like to Moebius-Strip, always twisted... if anybody knows this problem and has found out what went wrong.. feel free to contact me, I'd really like to know as it is bothering me now to have mastered the "simple" task of assembling sleeves and sleeve linings...
Anyway, apart from this issue it went together really nicely and I am happy with the outcome (I don't know about Lucy, the pattern runs big as usual and the weather is rainy and coldish). I have made the dress from white cotton voild and white cotton-linen-fabric as lining. The sleeves have little white bows and red heart buttons as decoration, in the back it closes with 4 white cotton thread buttons. Initially I was planning to add red buttons... but I didn't have any...

OD 3/10 Phoebis dress and Delia bloomers
The other one in brown polka dots to go with the red dress. Also I could try out the "elastic as bobbin thread" gathering for smocking (sleeves and legs), so I can use that to make a summer dress for myself. ;)
But here are the pictures with the things for Lucy:

Kleine Dinge gehen so schön schnell!
Here a few more little things for Lucy, it's great, goes SO quickly! :) All to be found in Ottobre Design magazine 1/12. THe sizes are about 1-2 too big, they are giant, honestly. :)

dressing up Lucy -5
I have made some more Ottobre Design patterns (they are all from 01/2012).
A little apron-dress called "Home sweet Home". The embroidery is from Urbanthreads , the Om Nom Nom Monster There are a few flaws because I was distracted in the dress although it is dead easy. (I could i.e. make the front middle match better patternwise) :) Well, another unique dress so to speak. ;) I do like it though. Om Nom Nom!!!

I have followed ottobre design magazine patterns (03/10). And indulged in strange patterned jerseys and cotton woven fabric. :) Also it gives me the chance to get acquainted with my overlock sewing machine...

patchwork baby blanket
Meine allererste Tat in Sachen Patchwork. Polyestervlies.
My very first quilting experience... very simple and nothing uberspecial, but I don't have much patience for quilting so... I am quite happy with it... not sure whether I am going to do more, though. :) But this is the result. :) Yes, apart from my exams that kept me from sewing a lot more, I have been a little bit pregnant and little Lucy was born on 03 May 2012. So this blanket is of course made just for her. :) I have followed the instructions from Ottobre design spring 2012. :) and yes, I admit it: The binding is less than neatly done, but I just went out of patience... let's say it's ... unique?! ... ! ;) Pattern and instructions of Ottobre were really good, it's highly recommendable.the letters are from the Ottobre Homage. The front fabrics are all Tilda. The back is turquoise vichy squares and the inlet is a 4cm thick fleece.
Daisy
Stoffreste sind was wunderbares. :)http://www.ottobredesign.com/
Also I've used some of the scrap fabric to make a donkey sheep called "Daisy". I have used a free pattern from the ottobre hompage for that. http://www.ottobredesign.com/
(see "print for free" and go a few pages back...) it went together surprisingly quick and easy! :)
