Julklapp Christmas bells

Remember? I made something small for the Advent coffee Julklapp?
Here is the result: Small christmas bells that you can put on the Christmas tree or whereever you want.
It is really easy to make those:
Take 2 squares of fabric (not too thick!) about 8-9cm side length. Sew them together and turn. then fold on the sides to achieve the bell shape and sew together. turn. Attach ribbon. That's it!

Filtrieren. Mit Rum mischen. In Flaschen abfüllen. Fertig.

This Christmas punch recipe may not be historically accurate, but it HAS been in the family for at least 3 generations and I think it is old enough and soooo yummy!

350g sugar
3/8l water
5 cloves
2 star anise
1 pinch of nutmeg
1/2 vanilla pod (opened)
3 crushed Pimento
1 cinnamon stick (about 7-10cms long)
2 lemons
4 Oranges
0,7l white rum

mix sugar, water and spices, the skin of 2 lemons and 1 orange and bring to boil. simmer for 5 mins. Add fruit juice and bring to boil. set aside to cool. filter. Add white rum. Fill into bottles and enjoy mixed with hot water or in tea ... or mulled wine... or whatever you feel like.

- I have absolutely fallen in love with this Indienne fabric and I just HAD to make a Robe à l'Anglaise from it. I have used the "Anlaise/Polonaise" pattern from JP Ryan. And I was inspired by an extant garment from the KCI

http://www.kci.or.jp/archives/digital_archives/detail_32_e.html

- The pattern is absolutely wonderful to work with. Measures are exact, the instructions are clear and simple. I have chosen to do the "Anglaise en fourreau", because I've always wanted to try that. I can assure you, it was nervwrecking to adjust the pleats but in the end it worked out quite well. :) I have also attached to buttons (only after making these pictures...) so I can wear the robe "à la Polonaise" if I feel like it (and I also like buttons as decorative element). The robe is worn over a 3layered skirt (2 voile, 1 linen) and a bum pad (wingeo) and of course with a fichu. I can really recommend this pattern as well as the JPR Jacket and Stays. ;)

well, well, well?!

Dezemberabend Julklapp

For a regency afternoon tea I have chosen a few fabrics for my contribution to the julklapp. :)

No, I am not only doing historical clothing and dresses with weird patterns. I am ALSO delighting ;) my family and friends with self-made presents. As christmas hasn't arrived yet and I can't give away full pictures (surprise, surprise), here are a few teaser-pictures. ;) Most things are from 1952 (inspired) and one thing is for my little niece Sophie. I promise, you'll get the full picture after Christmas. :)

1780s Jacket JPR

I am so fond of this pattern!! :) I have followed JPR Jackets patterns that I have tried before in the 1761 project, this time a different model for 1780s with stomacher though. The lacing is not the definite one yet, but it is ok for the first impression I have decided. ;)

So, after finishing lasts seams and the sash, I have mounted everything together on the dressform again and there you are. :) I am not completely convinced by it, but it's only small things and as it was only meant as a sort of experiment (I am not such a big fan of this kind of dress) I think it turned out ok. It is worn here over a shift, jumps and 2 layers of linen and 2 layers of voile skirts. The back is fitted and underneath is a lining made from linen that hold everything in place. Sensibility Patterns. The sash is simply strips of chameleon green-blue taffetta silk sewn together to a band.

Chemise a la reine - first critique

EEEEENDLICH!

FINALLY I have managed to finish the Chemise a la REine. I have made some minor changes (i.e. wider in the front to get more pleats) and next time I would use a bit more fabric for the skirt bit, especially in the back, but I am accepting it now the way it is.
The pattern can be downloaded from sensibilitypatterns for abou 10 Dollars, i found that quite handy. It is well written and the pieces go together easily. The sizing is exact.
I have taken the dress off the dummy so pictures are to follow when I am wearing the dress...
